Gilmerton is perhaps one of the least known of East Lothian’s historic houses. Still after centuries the family home of the Kinlochs, this magnificent 18th century mansion is the perfect setting for a two part concert of late renaissance music.

Tenebrae perform a delightful selection of late 16th century English madrigals, while in the superb oak-panelled Music Room John Kitchen plays keyboard music of the period by William Kinloch, Byrd and Philips, and baroque pieces by Handel, Purcell and Blow.

“Kitchen’s playing is instinctive and full of pizzazz.”
