Tenebrae
Nigel Short Director

This superb vocal ensemble, one of Europe’s finest professional choirs, returns to the Lammermuir Festival with a glorious programme dominated by motets by Bruckner and Brahms.

The acoustic of St Mary’s might have been designed for the ripe amplitude of Bruckner’s inspiring, mystical music and Rheinberger’s impressive mass.

Last year, Tenebrae’s performances made a huge impression on the Lammermuir audience, and this year’s concert is sure to be a hot ticket.

“Tenebrae are special. Directed by Nigel Short, these were exemplary performances, lucid, and so commanding it seemed as if singing perfectly in tune was the most natural thing in the world.”
The Guardian

“This choir has to be heard to be believed, if possible in an acoustic such as this.”
