Handel’s Acis and Galatea is a beautiful pastoral entertainment – his first dramatic work in English – with a simple yet highly emotional story that encompasses the extremes of love and tragedy.

As in their acclaimed recording the Dunedin Consort perform it in its original 1718 version for the Duke of Chandos, bringing the festival to a close in the radiant glow of Handel at his vibrant best.

“ An absolutely delicious, irresistible performance…[Butt’s] Handel is fit for paradise”.
San Francisco Classical Music Voice

“ …the Dunedins have transformed the way in which we can understand and enjoy Handel’s lovely early English masterpiece.”
