Fretwork Plays the Art of Fugue at Lammermuir Festival

For their second programme, Fretwork brings their incomparable interpretation of The Art of Fugue. It is Bach’s unfinished summing-up of the art of counterpoint, a profound meditation on a theme that navigates an increasingly complex labyrinth of sound until it dramatically breaks off where Bach left it.

Gladsmuir Parish Church, Gladsmuir

Gladsmuir Parish Church is a Romanesque cruciform church designed by William Burn and dating from 1839. A replacement was built after a fire in 1886 by John Farquarson of Haddington with later improvements made in 1929. The older ruined church can still be seen and explored behind the new church.

Parking:

There is a free car park at the rear of the church. Volunteer stewards will direct you.

We can offer 2 spaces immediately outside the church gate for blue badge holders. Please email [email protected] to book a space, subject to availability and on a first come first served basis.

Please take care on arrival and leaving as, despite this being a village, traffic tends to travels fast on this wide stretch of straight road.
