François Leleux Oboe

Mozart’s ‘Gran Partita’ deserves its nickname –
it is music on a truly grand scale, and one of the glories of the wind repertory. Here it’s led by the charismatic François Leleux in a version from 1815 for oboe, strings and piano.

Stenton’s lovely church has the ideal acoustic for it, and for the songful, beautifully fashioned little quartet by Oliver Knussen.

“ Francois Leleux took the oboe to new heights of expression”
Musical Criticism

“ [Knussen’s Cantata is]… a composition of great charm and precise character”
