Winton House, Pencaitland

Built by the Setons following King David I's grant of land to Phillip de Sayton in 1150, Winton is one of Scotland's most beautiful and richly historic houses. During the Setons' long tenure, kings were entertained here and craftsmen from Edinburgh Castle came to embellish the house with glorious flamboyance in the Scottish Renaissance style.  The estate's next owners, the Hamilton Nisbets, linked it to one of the greatest inheritances of the 18th and 19th Centuries, furnishing it from all over Europe and the Turkish Empire. Winton is now the family home of Sir Francis and Lady Ogilvy.
