PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF ARTIST: We are very sorry that Alex McCartney has had to withdraw from this concert due to a hand injury. We are delighted that the distinguished lutenist and guitarist Johan Löfving has agreed to step in at short notice. His revised programme includes some works by Kapsberger which was at the heart of Alex’s programme, as well as music by Lully, de Visée, Bach, Sanz and Sam Cave. We look forward to his performance very much indeed.

Stenton Parish Church, Stenton

William Burn, pioneer of the Scottish Baronial style, designed many fine buildings in Scotland including St John the Evangelist in Edinburgh's Princes Street.

His splendid little church (1829), Stenton Parish Church, in the tranquil village of Stenton brings St John's to mind with its impressive square tower. Beautifully simple inside, its acoustic is ideal for chamber music.
