Pure Pleasure - Lammermuir Festival

Just occasionally you put on a concert which just feels right.  Last night’s performance by Stile Antico was one such.  Their programme of Victoria, Guerrero, Palestrina, Morales and Janequin performed at the East end of St Mary’s Church Haddington was just perfection.

The Janequin was hilarious and the translation included directions to leer as well as chop and shout!

The glorious renaissance polyphony reaching as far as 12 parts at various points just took us to another and better place.  Thank you Stile Antico for a memorable evening.
